Vista Catastrophe

What can those unfortunates who've bought Vista which presumably won't work until service pack 2 do? Well some are reinstalling XP, I can't because my Dell came with Vista pre-installed. What I can do however is reduce my dependency on Microsoft. The first step has been to abandon the expensive MS Office so I turned to Open Office I'm DELIGHTED to find out that it seems BETTER than MS-Office and it's free. Don't hesitate download from http://www.openoffice.org/.

Because Vista screwed up my Intranet Webserver and Database I re-installed the whole setup using WAMP (Windows-Apache-MySQL-PHP) again free. WAMP is a single install-setup of this power suite download from www.wampserver.com

End of ISDN

BT has just announced the end of consumer ISDN in the UK.

Before the Internet was known about, the great hope for data communication was ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network). Unfortunately it was always priced at the pain point, ie at the highest price that the market would bear. ISDN never got out of the Design Studio/Printer niches.
