Using Windows Explorer As a Command Line Interface

Microsoft Windows Explorer is quite powerful as "CLI", if you start typing a path or filename in the "path Box" the choices of possible paths/files appears below eg

type "fred" and freddy.jpg, frederick.gif will appear as choices which you may then select by mouse. This "predictive" method is very useful. You may also use wildcards eg *.jpg will display all jpegs.

I'd like to find a FAQ on this but it's impossible to Google. Any help?
