Designing Websites with WordPress and a Tip

Wordpress is well known as a blogging platform, in fact it is so powerful that many have realised that it also be used to create standard CMS-based websites. I find the most difficult bit is choosing which one of the hundreds of free themes (templates) is best suited, this done I can create a site in a few hours. The availability of free themes solves the main problem I have as a techie that is I cannot and never will be able to design.

I have 3 or 4 WordPress Blogs and two or three WordPress Websites now and keeping their version of WordPress and various plugins up-to-date has started to become a nuisance so I'm building a completely up-to-date version of WP on my PC with all my favorite plugins and themes. That means I can just FTP this build up on to my various sites. But remember not to overwrite the remote wp-config.php (make it read-only)

Wonderful WordPress

Somehow I've only recently realised how marvellous WordPress is. I am now using WordPress not just as a Blog but as a rapid website generator with CMS. I've tried so many of the Website CMS systems and found then too complicated/non-intuitive (and I'm a techie).

The toughest part of creating a mini-Wordpress website is choosing from the hundreds of free templates.

Here are two of my first attempts:-
